James Attempts the Virgin London Marathon 2010

I think we'd all admit that a marathon is a challenge! Some of us might even think 'a marathon is a challenge I'd like to have a go at'. That's exactly what I thought when I saw in the New Year in 2009, 'a marathon is a challenge I'd like to have a go at... definitely not this year but maybe when I'm fitter and not quite so fat!'

However, First Order Red and I had a reality check just before the 2009 London Marathon when Ian Deverill, co-founder of First Order Red, innovator of our asbestos fibre discrimination service and dad was taken suddenly ill with Heart Disease. We were lucky, Ian had great care and has come through with flying colours but these significant events in life always cause a pause for thought.

So here I am... its a new year and after much thought and consideration I signed up to run the 2010 Virgin London Marathon to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. I'll not lie... I'm not one of nature's natural born runners and I'm not going to challenge anyone for their place on team GB come the 2012 Olympics.
