Steve McQueen's widow supports asbestos awareness campaign
Hollywood legends don't come much bigger than Steve McQueen. Fondly remebered for such classic films as The Magnificent Seven, Bullitt and The Great Escape, most people don't realise that his early death at the age of 50 was due to asbestos related Mesothelioma.
Following several years of silence, his widow Pamela has spoken out in support of asbestos awareness and the current Daily Mirror campaign. Pamela remembered Steve telling doctors he wore asbestos lined racing suits to ride motorbikes and was made to clean asbestos lagging off pipes whilst in the marines. Pamela is reported as saying 'I cringe when I hear the word asbestos. It's time to right a wrong that should have been rectified decades ago'.
